HOBM Rugby Football Club History

Hutt Old Boys Marist Rugby Football Club has a history that can be traced back as far as 1892 when the Epuni Club reformed after a short-lived amalgamation with Petone.

The Club boasts a rich and colourful history. It’s players have represented Wellington at all levels with many going on to represent their country as All Blacks and Black Fes. In the late 1920’s and 1930’s the Club was a force to be reckoned with no fewer than four All Blacks.

The Club also boasts memorable championship achievements—the Jubilee and Hardham Cups, the Spillane Trophy and perhaps the most cherished of all, the McBain Shield victories over our most traditional and fierce rivals Petone.
