Hutt Old Boys Marist 2018 Coaching Appointments

It is with great pleasure that the Hutt Old Boys Marist Rugby Club announces its coaching appointments for the upcoming 2018 Season. Due in part to an excellent 2017 and to a large number of quality applicants wishing to continue with the club in 2018 there was a delay in announcing all of the appointments until the candidates had been informed of the clubs decisions. With Joshua Syms in his role as Director of Rugby there is now a clear and evident pathway for coaches to develop and evolve under his guidance, and a structure in place that will enable coaches to work cohesively towards a common goal.

With this in mind the club is pleased to announce Mr Kent Harris as the 2018 Head Coach of the Premier Team. Kent comes with vast experience and is a real up and coming coach in the Wellington region, Kent has coached the Premier Reserves and Premiers at HOBM, and has coached a number of representative teams. Kent will be working with the rugby committee over the upcoming weeks to put together his coaching and management team, and this will be announced as soon as these appointments are made. Congratulations Kent we look forward to more great results in 2018.

2018 will also see the return of Adrian Maney and John Pereira as the Premier Reserve coaches. After an excellent 2017, the club was very happy to confirm their return in 2018 and the continuation of their excellent work.

The club is also pleased to retain the services of Mr Peter Time, but now back as the Women’s head coach for 2018. In 2017 Peter was the head coach of the Colts team but has returned to the women’s coaching ranks where he was so successful in 2016.

The club is also excited about the retention of Mr Alex Wood and Poni Lealofi, as the Under 85s and 1st Grade coaches respectively. Poni had an amazing year last year with the 1st Grade and continues in his role with the full support of the club. Alex likewise has been a shining light in Wellington Club Rugby, refereeing, coaching, and playing all in the same year. HOBM is so pleased to have his expertise here at the club.

At this point in time the club is looking to appoint coaches for the Colts team for 2018. We have had some interest but we are still looking for coaches who wish to work with this very talented group of individuals and develop their skills. If you know of anyone who might be of interest please contact the club. You can do this through either Mr Neville Hefernam the Chairman or through Josh Syms the Clubs Director of Coaching. /
